Scottie Scheffler is, unsurprisingly, the favorite at the US Open this weekend. The world number one has been the top bet for the last 15 Majors. He hasn’t won all of them, but he’s been one of the best performers. That said, the US Open field is full of great competitors. How’s it all going to go down over the next few days?

Scottie Scheffler completes his career Grand Slam
While Scottie Scheffler has plenty of time left, the pressure is now on to win the US Open. He’s won the other three Majors, and this is all that’s left. In the last two years, we’ve seen Rory McIlroy complete it, and Scheffler will be next. It may not sound like a bold prediction to pick the favorite, but favorites hardly ever win these tournaments.
Rory McIlroy flounders
Rory McIlroy broke the Grand Slam seal in 2025 and followed it up by winning the Masters again in 2026. He then finished tied for seventh at the PGA Championship, and he has the second-best odds of anyone to win the US Open this weekend. But at some point, he’s going to come back down to earth for a bit, and a challenging course at Shinnecock could be what does it for him. Look for him to struggle, at least for his standards.
Brooks Koepka makes a run at the title
Brooks Koepka has had an interesting run since returning to the PGA Tour. He hasn’t placed in the top 10 in any event, including the Masters and PGA Championship. He also had to withdraw last week from the RBC Canadian Open due to an injury. All signs point to another finish outside the top 10, but he could be poised to finally break through and give the top of the leaderboard a run for their money.
Bryson DeChambeau bounces back
Often seen as LIV’s best chance at securing a Major, Bryson DeChambeau has disappointed this year. He shot six over and missed the cut at the Masters, following that up with a seven-over performance, also missing the cut at the PGA Championship. He’s been way out of form, and perhaps the looming death of LIV weighs on him. But for this weekend, he will bounce back and be in contention in the final round for the first time in what feels like forever.
Jon Rahm finishes as the best LIV player but outside the top five
The other of LIV’s usual best hopes, Jon Rahm has been in pretty decent form. He finished second at the PGA Championship and tied for 38th at the Masters. This time, he’s got the best odds of anyone on LIV by far (+1300, third-best overall), and that will likely reflect the leaderboard, though Rahm will finish outside the top five this time.
Someone +8000 or worse will finish in the top 10
There are always long shots who find a way to compete at Majors. The US Open will be no different. There are quite a few with +8000 betting odds or worse that could very well stun the golf world, including:

- Shane Lowry +8000
- Cameron Smith +10000
- Sepp Straka +10000
